Former Florida Georgia Line members Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley have revealed what led to the breakup of their successful bro-country group. Hubbard and Kelley appeared separately on recent episodes of Bussin’ With the Boys podcast, and they shared their respective sides of what led to the duo’s demise. Hubbard claims the split was initiated by Kelley, who wanted to pursue a solo career. Hubbard found it challenging to balance both Florida Georgia Line and his solo work. “I don’t have the capacity to do two careers, and also it’s going to get super sticky,” Hubbard admitted.
Kelley said they agreed to hold off on solo projects until their recording contract ended, but Hubbard released a song with Tim McGraw in 2021 anyway, breaking their arrangement. Kelley then released a solo EP and LP in 2021, and he sensed the end of FGL when Hubbard communicated that they were “kinda done.” (Holler)
