Darius Rucker Sentenced To One Year Probation On Drug Possession Charges

SHARE NOW

On Tuesday (September 10), Darius Rucker appeared in a Williamson County courtroom in Franklin, Tennessee, and pleaded no contest to his charge of simple possession of a controlled substance. Following his no contest plea, Rucker’s other charges of simple possession and one count of driving with expired tags were dismissed. The charges are tied to a 2023 traffic stop where officers found drugs in the car of the country singer. Rucker’s no contest plea also meant that he agreed to waive his right for a trial, while accepting a sentence of 11 months and 29 days probation. If Rucker completes his probation with no additional law violations, the charges will subsequently be expunged from his permanent record. Rucker’s attorney’s shared a statement on his behalf following the court appearance, “Darius looks forward to working through this probationary period and putting this all behind him.” (Taste of Country)
