GAUNORILLA BLOG: NOSE BLEED REMEDYI came across an interesting way to stop a nose bleed. Not sure if you will ever use this solution but if you run out of kleenex you might want to try. It's about time the medical community came up with something useful for our daily lives. A team of doctors in Vancouver have found that the most efficient way to stop a bad nosebleed is . . . by SHOVING PORK UP THERE. They were treating a girl with a rare genetic disorder that led to long, uncontrollable nosebleeds. And they found, quote, "Cured salted pork crafted as a nasal tampon and packed within the nasal vaults successfully stopped nasal hemorrhage promptly [and] effectively." (--Did I lose you at the phrase "nasal tampon"? That's cool.) They say it's the first time they've seen anyone stop nasal bleeding with pork . . . at least in modern science. Over a century ago, pork was used in medicine . . . but since meat preparation wasn't as sophisticated back then as it is now, that led to serious bacterial complications. They didn't specifically explain WHY the pork is so effective. As a kid I got nose bleeds all the time and loved sticking my finger up there as well so i probably would of stuck a piece fo pork up there to stop the bleeding. hahah would you ever do this just to try it ? |
