Gaunch of the Wolf’s Morning show “Gaunch in the Mornings” sat down with Radio Waves a new magazine for radio fans across the country to read exclusive info and get in-depth details on their favourite radio announcers. 

 Radio Waves - How long have you been in radio for Gaunch?

Gaunch- I went to radio school in Lethbridge from 04-06, and it was June of 06 when I got my first job in radio. So I believe almost four years now. 

 Radio Waves – Do you have any exciting memories since the start of your career?

Gaunch- yeah I think I got a couple, well it depends what you call exciting but I got to go to Mexico for  free with Marlin Travel a year ago and I never had to pay a cent so I thought that was pretty sweet.  I got to take two listeners to Calgary to the Monster of Rock festival and stay in a hotel room courtesy of the company, AGAIN never had to pay a cent.  I’d say most of my accomplishments came free I guess.  I also got the opportunity to tattoo my co-host’s back end a couple years ago because we raised 5000 dollars for the local SPCA’s here in the Lakeland.  That was pretty wild actually.  When I started tattooing I wasn’t pressing hard enough and the ink was going into the skin, so after about 30 minutes of colouring I finally realized that the ink wasn’t going in so I had to start over.

 Radio Waves – what do you do when you’re not on the radio Gaunch?

Gaunch -  You know what I don’t do a whole lot unless it’s the weekend.  During the week I usually nap for a bit in the afternoons, watch a little TV, usually hockey and sometimes I like to just chill out with my buddies with a couple a beers.  On weekends I like to amp it up a bit. Summer time is awesome here I live a block away from the Lake in Cold Lake so either I’m at the beach or on the Lake in the summer or with friends hanging out playing beersbe or some sort of game like that. In the winter I play hockey that’s about it. 

Radio Waves  - You did play by play for the Cold Lake Ice this past winter, how did that go?

Gaunch- you know what that was actually one of the best times I’ve had in radio, I defiantly have a huge passion for hockey and just to be a part of the games like that and knowing people are tuned in to find out what happens is really exciting and gives you a pretty cool feeling.   It’s something that I’d like to continue to do down the road and hopefully one day it’s what I’ll get paid to do.
