Al has almost 35 years of broadcast news experience in markets as varied as Edmonton, Calgary, Regina, Lethbridge, and Victoria.
Al was nominated for the Michener Award for Investigative Journalism (1981), and was also the winner of numerous Radio and Television News Director Association (RTNDA) awards for local news content while he was in charge of several newsrooms in Alberta.
Al has taught Broadcast Journalism/Communications at several Community Colleges, and also taught broadcast writing as part of a four-year degree program at a College in the U.S., where he served as an adjunct advisor to the Faculty of Mass Communications and acting manager for the College's 100,000 watt non-commercial radio station.
In his spare time, Al edits/proofreads book manuscripts for several independant publishers, and enjoys spending time with his wife, 3 children, and two grandchildren.
